Hi there, in my Moodle 2.4.3 I would like to set the content "free" like a regular website. I thought this can be done by the "Login as a guest" button on the login page. But unfortunatly this does not work. Invalid password ??? Well there should be no password... I guess I miss something, but can not find where and what. Check "moodle.michaeljob.ch" and try to login as a guest. What is wrong? I have about a dozen courses and mostly they are guest allowed with no password, some with password. But I do not even get to the list of courses when trying to log in as a guest. Thanks 4 help. Michael

Hi Michael,

I visited your site. I didn't find a list of courses on the front page and so I went to http://moodle.michaeljob.ch/course/ and then clicked on the name of one of the courses. I was automatically logged in as a guest and was able to view the course without any problem. Thus, how about showing the list of courses on the front page or a link to the list of courses? Please see the documentation Front page settings for various ideas.

I also tried (in a different browser) going to the login page and clicking the 'Login as guest' button. Like you, I obtained the error message 'Invalid login, please try again'. This problem is reported occasionally in these forums and in the Moodle Tracker, however we haven't yet figured out how to reproduce it (e.g. on the Moodle sandbox site), and so can't investigate a fix. If you have any ideas on how to reproduce it, please feel free to create a new issue in the tracker for it.

Hi Helen,

Thank you so much. That solved my problem. I now show the list of courses and then it's fine with me. And I'm glad it's not my fault the guest login does not work. I suspect some translation / language packs problems may interfer. I could once get to a "guest" login with the ID (in german) "gast" which took me to a user registration form. Also not what it meant to be, for a guest... this was more like a new self enrollment... ?? Anyway - now I'm happy with my moodle, have to find a way to get a test/quiz accessed as a guest... but that's a detail. bye Michael
