Hi there.  We are using MOODLE 2.4 now (upgraded from 1.9).  I have an instructor who got an email kickback from a students account.  I confirmed the account and the account I see in the profile is correct.  The error message the instructor shared with me has a different email.

I recall in 1.9 that there was a spot in MOODLE messaging where the email could be updated and it was not completely attached to the profile email.

I can't seem to find that setting in 2.4 and am wondering if someone knows where that may be located.  Or if it is there at all.

I also sent the student a message via messaging, and to make it complicated, I did not get an error message back.

Thank you
Rhonda

You can turn this on and off for the system in Site admin > Advanced features > Email notification override.

Then it is pretty much up to a particular activity whether it allows a user to change this. For Forums, the switch is in Site admin > Plugins > Activity modules > Forum - Settings > Use email address in reply.
