some of my moodle users are reporting the existence of words linking somewhere else out of moodle, advertising whatever has to do with that word appearing in any kind of content at the site (forums and menus too)
that is actually only happening to certain users and i wonder wether it is a risk i can avoid with a certain moodle security setup or a problem at the user's browser and nothing to be done as a moodle admin
any ideas here?
There are a few possibilities - one is that the specific users have been infected or have a browser plugin that is causing - the other is that only a few users are noticing but it is actually in the site. I had my site infected by code.

I have had this happen previously on other sites - it turned out to be a virus on the WindowsPC I was using not on the site itself (same site, no problems on another computer). So I would first of all check whether the same users have the same problem on another computer, and/or whether other users have that problem on the same computer to try to isolate whether the issue is with your site, with the user, or with the PC/browser they are using.
