Badges Scrollbar and another question

Currently, it is possible for students to see up to 20 badges. However, I notice that the "screen real estate" is getting too crowded with that many badges showing. they aren't resizable, so they take up a lot of space in teh block.

Is it possible to get a scroll bar in the "My Latest Badges" block so that students can scroll down to see all the badges they earned while not making one HUGE block if lots of badges are earned?

Secondly, I was wondering if it is possible to change the text description of the badges being awarded. I made a mistake in the spelling, and wanted to change it, but apparently when a badge is awarded, it is forever, mistakes and all. Is that true? I wonder if this will change, and/or if badges can be deleted by the student?

Hi Doug,

That would be a good improvement to the block layout. I was thinking of adding some kind of paging there or an option to choose badge sizes to display. However, keep in mind please that it is supposed to display only the latest XX badges with the full list being on user profile page.

As for your second question, I am working on a patch right now that would allow updating everything except for badge image, issuer, and expiry date.

Thanks for working on these issues. A scrollbar wold be great, as would be updating the info.

As an experiment, I made a badge with an expiry of one day and watched what happened. It puts a bar across the badge. But just a thought, perhaps if, since we can't delete earned badges, maybe the bar across badges that are revoked could say "REVOKED"? Wouldn't that in effect invalidate an earned badge and do the same thing as deleting them? Perhaps adding options in the badge creation where several "bar" otions coud be added, like "REVOKED, EXPIRED, INVALID", or maybe a custom message could be put on badges.  Just an idea.

Do you have a tracker number where I can watch the development? I would like to know when these issues have been fixed.

Sorry for the delay. Tracker issue to watch is https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-41576. I haven't submitted solution yet, but have it ready and will try to get it into review soon. 

There are also plans to allow revoking and deleting badges https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-40551. But we need to think through this issue a bit more and it is quite complicated one and we would like it to be aligned with Mozilla standards.
