Half way through the upgrade

Got to the part where the plug-ins and add-ons are checked.

In the 'Blocks' section there is an add-on called 'Search' missing

When I click on Upgrade Moodle database now - it goes away for quite a while and then fails.

Any ideas what I can do?

Thanks

So the "search" add-on is "Missing from disk". That's probably because it was REMOVED from Moodle recently (version 2.3 or 2.4, I think...) It was a buggy "experimental" function that apparently didn't work very well. It's currently being rewritten...

So, restore your origional pre-upgrade 2.3 site from your backup. Then go to Site administration / Plugins / Activity modules / Manage activities. Is there a "search" option there? If so, click DELETE to remove it from your Moodle database (since the code is already gone).

Once it's gone try the upgrade again. It should hopfully be able to get past this problem now.

Thank you for your reply.

I have rolled back to version 2.3.2 and checked in the plugins/activity modules/manage activities and there isn't a "search" option/plugin.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks.

It could be the one listed as Global Search. What happens when you click the 'Settings' option next to it?

And does the upgrade fail if you remove that Global Search?
