subscribe to a particular thread and not the entire forum?

Is there a way to subscribe to a particular thread and not the entire forum?  I am overwhelmed by the amount of mail on particular forums and tend to overlook the email messages of some of the threads I am interested in.

If not does anyone else have a need for this other than me?

Difficult case to win in a learning environment where all knowledge should be useful but I do see your point. Perhaps marking them on and off in a similar way to the star in  gmail?

I was referrring to the star in terms of how it works rather than solving the problem directly but it basically works as a filter.

In gmail you can 'star' a conversation by just clicking on an empty star icon (without any refresh). You can then just choose to view all starred items. See my attached in box. The 'starred' link on the left under inbox would show only the 3 starred converstations.
