My host has requested I cleanup mdl_grade_grades_history table

Hi 

Version 2.3.3

The grade_grades_history has become bloated. I have now disable the grades_history for our moodle. Will moodle automatically cleanup this table or will I still need to do it manually in PhpMyAdmin? If so, I trust this won't cause any problems. Can I drop the entire table?

The advice of experienced admins is most appreciated.

I think that you have to clean it manually, but you can safely TRUNCATE that table.

To prevent this from happening again, I would recommend you to take a look at the options in Site Administration > Server > Cleanup

The 2 options you are interested in are:

  • Disable Grade History
  • Grade History Lifetime
