upgrading from 2.2 to 2.3

upgrading from 2.2 to 2.3

started an upgrade from v2.2 to v2.3 but the checklist told me i needed mysql 5.1 so i downloaded the latest from mysql (5.5) but the checklist page keeps telling me to upgrade mysql..... which i just did.....

is there a way round this?

Which operating system and how was MySQL installed in the first place?

It's unusual (certainly on Linux systems) to obtain mysql from mysql's site directly so you really need to figure out what the correct upgrade procedure for your OS is.
