SIte News not viewable by guests

SIte News not viewable by guests

Moodle 2.0.8, I checked permission and forums are set to Viewable by Guests.  SIte is set to automatically log users in as guests. And I get the following message in the site news post:

"This post cannot be viewed by you, probably because you have not posted in the discussion or the maximum editing time hasn't passed yet."

When I click on "Older posts" I am directed to a login page where there is no option to login as a guest.

FIgured out what the problem was, the site news was hidden in the Main Menu block - which is silly when you think that hidding something in a menu is going to hide it in the main section of the page.  Anyway - Now..

When a guest comes to the site the site news is showing complete posts and not abbreviated posts with a "read more" link.  When I log in, site news displays posts in abbreviated form - where is the abbreviate post setting located?
