Site notices? + Language issue?

Site notices? + Language issue?

Hi Aaron and thanks again for the great upgrade.
I noticed that apart from custom  fields, the module site setting page includes a section on "Site Notices". This also appears in the language phrases of the module.

Could you please explain what site notices mean?

One other thing - regarding custom fields. Currently they can only be defined as one phrase. In a multi-lingual site this may be problematic as different users using different languages may need to see different translations of the field. In non-custom fields this was handled easily via the language editing. I don't know if this is a major change, but it may be worth noting for future versions.

I haven't used them before, but it seems like they provide a way to post notices for particular sessions, dependent on the custom field values for that session. So if you have some special instructions that apply to a particular session or group of sessions you can use it to inform the attendees.

Apparently the notice appears in the new version of the face-to-face block (not yet on moodle.org but available here: http://git.catalyst.net.nz/gw?p=blocks-facetoface.git;a=summary ).

This is a difficult issue, because at the moment there is no way to add new language strings using the language string editor, so if you create a new custom field there's no way to create a language string for it.

The session custom fields is based off the User profile fields code, so presumably this is also a problem for user custom fields too?
