I can't upload files or create a new folder

Hi!

I'm currently using Moodle 1.3.3. The installation wasn't a problem, but whenever I try to upload a file or create a new folder, my attempt isn't succesful. I never had this problem when using moodle local (Windows 2000), but after I installed it on a webserver...
When I try to upload a file, I get "page not found" - the address changes to ".../files/index.php".

When I try to create a new folder I get the error message:

ERROR: Could not find or create a directory (/home/www/elearning/html/elearning/moodledata/2///test)

"test" is the name of the folder I want to create.

Moodle was able to create the folder "2" (because I didn't create it wink ) , but did not create "test" - and I don't understand the 3 "/" before test (see above).
The directory permissions for the folder "moodledata" are "777".
Has anybody ever seen anything like this and can help me?

Thanks,
Stefan Schulte

It was my own fault! The safe_mode was "off" - but my Provider doesn't want to change this setting.

I moved to temporarly webspace and look for a new webhost.
