Increasing maxlength for user profile fields...

The most popular messenging software in our class is Yahoo Messenger. 

So I've now changed the "ICQ Messenger" field to say Yahoo Messenger.  I've also increased the maximum numbers of characters for that field from 15 to 35.

However, when viewing the profile, it still cuts off my Yahoo ID to 15 characters.

I think it has to do with the $user->ICQ which appears in the file moodle/user/view.php, but I don't know how to increase the max characters for that. 

Same problem occurs when I try to increase max characters for the phone fields.

Any suggestions?

The field in the database is restricted to 15 characters, so that would need to be modified as well.

You could easily modify the user table - its quite obvious which fields to change. If you need help doing that, let us know.

However, it might be worth a feature request in the bugs database to increase the field size - I don't see that it would do much harm making it bigger for eventualities such as yours.

I gotta reccomend staying away from webcrossing's "courses" software... it's a rebuild of their forums system, which is what I'm having so much trouble migrating from...

Moodle, if I may say so, is philosophically aligned with your triplebottomline dealie too...
