Just upload the file to your wwwroot or subdirectory, use the wizard in cpanel to setup a new mysql database (taking note of the details) & then just go to the web address and go through the moodle install wizard to set up your config.php.

As far as documentation goes I’m not sure if there is any specifically for Cpanel, but just use the generic documentation as a basic guide - this is not the easiest to follow, but give it a try.

Good Luck

JR (& DZ),

I would only add
  1. when you create the database, make sure its default character set is utf-8, and
  2. I don't know if this qualifies as documentation, but there are video tutorials for installing Moodle with cPanel, such as http://otaru-jc.ac.jp/hagley/settingupmoodleonhostingwithcpanel.swf

I would like to learn how to install Moodle using cPanel. However, when I click the link you gave for the video, I get an error that the page is not found. I tried copying and pasting the link into the address bar and still get the same error message. Is there another source that will have the steps to install Moodle?

Thanks,

RWJ

RWJ,

Such a shame. It was a really good tutorial. It seems the site has either been taken over or is being renovated. When you go to the server root (http://otaru-jc.ac.jp/) it just says it's under construction. There's still a link to it on the Moodle doc page on installation (http://docs.moodle.org/en/Installing_Moodle).

There used to be several places you could watch Jeff Wood's video on the same subject, but most are no longer available either. You can still find it at
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=45c51ece506fd614ab1eab3e9fa335caa2ad85fd66c033a1, but you have to jump through a couple of hoops to get to the actual tutorial video.

Also, this forum post by Mary Parke offers to tell you how to get to her video if you e-mail her: http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=87038#p384446

Hi everyone, I have asked Eric to fix the links to his demos on cPanel and other topics. He moved to a new school and needs to update his links. You might check here in a few weeks: http://englishforum.sgu.ac.jp.
