This is an alternative forum that you can install into standard Moodle.

It does not replace the standard forum, and operates alongside it. You can copy forums from the standard forum into ForumNG format if you like (...and if it works; this hasn't been tested lately).

Please note: This plugin is no longer supported in Moodle Tracker. All support requests should be via the GitHub repository issue tracker (https://github.com/moodleou/moodle-mod_forumng).

    Hi Jason,
Would it be possible to give us an update on the progress with updating ForumNG to 2.7 / 2.8 please?
    Many thanks.

There is presently no work to update to 2.8 as we have only just moved to 2.7.

It is likely that we will have an official release of 2.8 version in June, with pre-release code available in GitHub late Feb.

If there are any issues on 2.8 that can be safely, and easily, fixed on 2.7 then we would consider doing this and updating GitHub master also.

Thanks for your reply. Does this mean that version 2.6 works on 2.7 with the fixes made in August?
Regarding compatibility with 2.8 I'm happy to test it as soon as I have access to my 2.8 dev installation.

Using the current github master version is recommend for 2.7, or wait for the download here which will be added in 2 weeks.

How can we view Sticky posts? I've "made the discussion sticky" But where is this applied? I imagine this allows you to display the entries within a feed, applied through a block? Has anyone successfully achieved this? and could they point me in the right direction? Thank you in advanced for any help you can provide.

    Regards,

    Phil

Sticky discussions always stay at the top of the discussion list on the forum front page. That's the only bit of functionality that enabling 'sticky' provides.

Thanks for the clarification Jason! Wrapped my head around it now (Not referring to the keyboard) smile

    Hello,
Are you planning to wear this sophisticated plugin for versions 2.9 and 3.0 of Moodle?
    Thank you in advance.

Yes, the 2.9 release will be here and on github in the next two weeks (If I remember to do this, which I didn't with the 2.8 version...).

Moodle 3.0 support will not be available until the new year (github), probably in Feb/March (though there are some contrib fixes appearing already that I will add now if they are OK for 2.9 also).

Sorry to be a pain but how is work on the Moodle 3.0 support coming along? ForumNG is great and your efforts are much appreciated. I'd love to be able to use it in our updated Moodle.

Hi, Are there any plans afoot to make this compatible with Moodle 3.1 and above? I tried installing it to see if it would work on 3.1, but it won't install as it is "defective" apparently.

    Cheers.

    Hi there !
I found this documentation on moodle : https://docs.moodle.org/36/en/ForumNG
I think it could be nice to put it in the "Useful Links" part of this page.
    Cheers
