Tab Display is a resource module used to display course information such as notes, readings, biography etc, in a tab structure per chapter/module within a course.

Websites can also be embedded into the tabs. Using Moodle auto-linking, helps create links to other activities or resources.

New features:

  • A general description can be added above the tabs
  • PDF embedded functionality. If you put a link with a PDF file on the content of a tab (without any text around), the PDF file will be displayed in an iFrame

    Please consider updating the plugin to allow tab displays to work with Moodle 3.0. Tab displays have been very useful and now that we've been updated to 3.0, they are no longer accessible in my course.

    Anne, you may be out of luck with these guys. Sadly, I think they have moved on. See The last update here is 2012.
    There are some other alternatives. Try a search for 'tabs' you'll find Generico and at least one other tabs plugin.

    Hi - thanks to my colleague Kathrin Schwarz who looked into it I'm quite happy it does work with 3.0 - at least for us.

    It was pretty simple only adjust the version
    change in mod/tab/version.php in :

    $plugin->version = 2014040200; // The current module version (Date: YYYYMMDDXX)
    $plugin->requires = 2014040200; // Requires this Moodle version
    $plugin->maturity = MATURITY_STABLE;
    $plugin->release = '2.2.0 (Build: 2014040200)';
    $plugin->cron = 0;
    $plugin->component = 'mod_tab'; // Full name of the plugin (used for diagnostics)

    Hope it works for you

    We are using this plugin in Moodle 3.0.4. It is working fine in pc but when we access in moodle from mobile device, scrolling(up-down/left-right) is not working. So user can't see full embedded sit or file. Is there any solution for this.

    Just wondering if anybody used this in v3.3 and whether anybody had success with it on mobile? Alternatively - best other solution for tabbed content pages?

    TB, I am not claiming this is the 'best' solution. I am using BS4 tabs with Boost.
    I have got a single button using Snippets to insert the code.
    There is one gotcha. If I paste in any unformatted code (eg like a link) then atto destroys the code.
    If you want I can describe my workflow as it is in the moment.
    I think that responsive tabs inside a section is a good way to solve the scroll of death, and it is 'normal' internet type navigation and the users in our Moodle all work really well.

    PS: to anybody watching here. These guys have done a good job of this plugin. But as I posted above, they probably have gone on. latest release 2013

    Is this plugin a possible candidate for plugin adoption and someone else to volunteer to either fork or adopt the plugin?
    Especially with the power of BS4 coming into the frame with Boost.
    Boost + Fordson [or another theme . . .] + a tabs solution would be a powerful combination.

    Musing over.

    Thanks Derek - will take a bit of time (over hols) to get up to catch up and hopefully will try stuff out in a little while (returning to dev after a long absence)

    Derek I'd be very interested in knowing more about your workflow for creating BS4 tabs in boost. I'm talking to an administrator about building a course that would ideally utilise a 4-tab temlate format for each of 50+ pages. It would be great to have very simple instructions lined up (treat me as complete novice) before I request any plugns or themes installed....
