There are working examples in eAssessment with Moodle on our OpenLearn site.

The documentation is in How to create questions in Moodle on that site.

This question types uses other question types as sub questions. It allows you to have one or more entry fields for any of these question types embedded in your question text. You must have at least one of these question types installed for this combined question type to work :

Here is an example of a question where a teacher has combined 1 variable numeric, 1 pmatch, 1 multiple response and 1 select missing word sub question in one combined question.

Unfortunately it is a very complicated question type! We want to release good-quality code once, rather than a slew of updates. It is on its way, though.

@Simply Zeus, The problem with adding Essay to Combined is that every other sub-question can be auto-marked by the system, but Essay needs to be either ignored or human marked. We at The Open University UK has been considering an auto-graded Essay question (either using Gordon Bateson's (which would become a dependency) or developing our own based on our Pattern Match, which could then be a sub-question that would do this. Unfortunately that has not risen high enough on our 'to do' list, though we do hope to address it in 2024/2025 given current OU priorities.

To add to what Chris just said: the next version of combined, when we get it released, will haev a new option to have ungraded 'show your working' text input boxes for the student type into - and you could then use manual grading to update the question grade based on that if you wanted.

Thanks Tim, I was just checking to see if that supported images/files.

Ah, yes, the newish 'Show your working' feature is plain text entry only. However, I am sure that we could add image support to it (though I cannot promise how quickly that would be).

Moodle 4.0 (and 4.1) version seems to be working, in all the testing we have done so far, although we have still not finished testing yet (ETA next week) and I won't do an official release here until it is tested.

Hover, I am confident enough that I have now pushed all the new code to the 'main' branch on github. So, if you have the technical skill to grab that, and help test it, then please do.
