Skype (IPA: [skaɪp], rhymes with type) is a software program created by the Swedish and Danish entrepreneurs Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis. Skype allows users to make telephone calls over the internet to other Skype users free of charge, or to landlines and cell phones for a fee. Additional features include instant messaging, file transfer, short message service, video conferencing and its ability to circumvent firewalls.

With this module, you can make Video calls, send files, chat, send sms, and use skype cast with your collegues!

Starting with v3.8.0/1 the code includes GDRP compliance and is compatible with the new tables and fields required by Moodle 3.11.X and higher. Also includes a lot of rewritten and updated code. See the upgrade.txt file for additional details.

V3.7.0 version fixed the missing, With Selected (through check boxes): and it's buttons at the bottom of the Skype users list.

Starting with  v3.6.0 the code includes groups, Open and Close calendar times, and Next chat time.

Sorry, Skype 15.72.94.0 does not mean anything to me. And your Moodle, is it really 3.1? or is it 3.11.

Hi Luis, your problem is due to the Skype v2.7 you are using is NOT compatible with Moodle 3.11. In fact, I have not released a Skype version for Moodle 3.11 yet, because the profile settings for Skype were changed. If you download the Skype 3.8.0 Beta from github, it should let you use Skype in Moodle 3.11, but the new settings page with the four new Moodle.org settings will NOT save and take you back to the front page of your site. I've asked for guidance, but no help yet. It is okay to ignore those settings and go back to the front page of your site by changing the address back to delete the part, admin/upgradesettings.php?, then hit, Enter.

    Hi Tien,
The version 3.7.0 located here will not. I have a 3.8.0 version at my github account that I was working on before my wife died, that will, but had a problem where some new settings that Moodle added, would not save. Wound up just having to manually enter the site URL to bypass the problem. No one responded to my request for help, and I have been side tracked with other projects. I will try to get back to this in the next few days.

    Hello
I believe there is a bug in the last version of mod_skype plugin. The code you added on install.php file is needed in the version upgrade step. This runs fine if you uninstall the plugin and then install it, but not if you upgrade an existing plugin.
    Cheers

    Hi Omar,
I am not sure what you mean. Could you send me further details or some example code to my email address listed in my profile?

Hi. I installed this plugin for our Moodle (versions 3.11 and 4) site. I tried to add an activity Skype and it showed a notification to add Skype account in the profile. When I tried to add in my profile, I didn't see where to add it. It used to be in the Optional section of the profile. So, where are we supposed to add the Skype account? Thank you and more power!

Hi Lelli, The install should have created a new profile section named, Other fields, with a field named, Skype ID. Place your Skype ID in the new location.

Should I uninstall and re-install the plugin? I don't see the "Other fields" section in my profile when I checked. Thanks.

I have just added a new version Skype v3.8.3 that should be what both of you need.

    Hi
Recently installed the plugin, realized that we are unable to have a Skype conversation all together at once through this plugin, uninstalled it. All to find out, all my profile fields have been deleted along with it. Is there any way I may be able to retrieve them. That's a lot of data lost in one click, and I have a very old backup of it which contains inundated data.

    Hi Ameed,
Sorry, I do not know of a way to automatically recover those profile fields. However, if you have them in a backup, you could manipulate the data in a CSV file to build an upload file to recreate the entries in user profiles. For the next Skype update I will see about adding an option regarding whether to delete or keep those fields.

    Hi Ameed,
Sorry, been very busy with other things, but I think you may have missed how to, "have a Skype conversation all together at once." You go through the list of users that have a Skype ID, placing a checkmark in the, Select, box before their photo/names. Once you have all the people selected, scroll to the bottom of the list and click the appropriate button that popped up there at the bottom of the list, such as, Create Conference. This will start up Skype and it will attempt to call everyone selected in the list.
NOTE: That if your Moodle is prior to 3.11.0 you can upload a normal user csv file with the skype ID's in it. Since Moodle HQ removed Skype from user profiles starting in Moodle 3.11.0, user uploads with just skype in the header column to upload. In Moodle 3.11.x and later, go to the link below to see that now for Skype, the column heading must be, profile_field_skype. https://docs.moodle.org/400/en/User_profile_fields
