Media collection is an activity that enables users to create galleries (of image/audio/video). The galleries themselves have many display options the user can choose such as displaying in a grid or carousel, and defining the number of items to show per row/column and such.

Each item can have metadata supplied (title, publisher, medium, production date, etc).

When viewing a gallery, selecting an item brings up a lightbox interface that allows the user to view a larger version of the item along with the metadata. Social options are also visible in the lightbox interface (liking & commenting).

    Hi,

    I'm using 2.9 plugin version.
I have a question about "other files".
If I insert an Album in media collection with only "other files" (wmv, pdf, ppt...), when user view the gallery it's empty.
There are buttons right and left but there is nothing in the main part of Album.
    Album is not accessible.
It's very stange, users don't understand what happens.
Do tou think it's possible to change this behaviour ?
For example, the gallery in this case could not be displayed or display with a text "no media available in this album".

    Thanks,

    Charlotte

Good afternoon, which are the versions or configurations to be able to enable the option that can be commented.

    Hi,
This plugin is really great. It's what we need. But..

Please consider the "But" as constructive !

Plse note that I am not a developer, but only a site admin.

The "But" is mainly about ergonomy (user interface) :

loading a 70MB zip of HD pictures... white page.
the css deviates from the theme (inheritance), imposes additional work to adapt to the official design
    french translation...
the filters are nice, but the toggle buttons don't work
would love to be able to add a link when clicking on a picture
    ...

Easy to criticize ! I offer my time for sharing my admin experience, testing and translating into French.

From my point of view, this is a "must" plug-in.

I realize the huge work behind it, and I thank your for that.

There are room for improvements, I'm willing to help.

    Cheers,
    Stephan

Hi, this is a great plugin, I have some questions:

How does the Contributable option work when creating a gallery?

I have a contribution collection, a student opened a "Contributable" gallery but no other student can add images to this gallery.

    How does this work?

    Thanks,
    Erika

    Hi all,

Anyone that has updated to v3.3.0.2 for M3.3 should get the latest v3.3.0.3 - the only difference is a bug fix for displaying audio/video content which was broken since M3.2.

    Hello,
Does anyone know how u upload images in bulk in the media gallery without having to join them in a ZIP?

Student can not see the picture. Can students not see photos uploaded by the administrator? I set it to be visible to everyone. The picture appears as an x-box.

HI Adam, we are currently on Moodle 3.2, upgrading in the summer, probably to 3.5. I'd like students to be able to submit galleries of images as part of an assignment. When I test this in 3.2, the gallery does not become 'read-only' - do you know if this is because we are using 3.2 - and should this be fixed after upgrading? My work around is to amend the 'read-only from' date in the gallery. I'm also struggling to get the visibility setting that students set to work. Even when set, I can't find out why students cannot see each others' galleries. I would value your advice. Many thanks, Jane

This is a very versatile plug-in, which makes it useful for all sorts of classwork. Is it possible to disable the thumbnail views when displaying an image in class? I use the first image for an inference activity, so I would prefer the class not to look for clues in the thumbnail gallery.
    Thank you.

Hello, I have a question: can I grade this activity? I can´t find the configuration to do so.

Alba: there is an assign submission plugin that lets you grade galleries via the assignment activity (https://moodle.org/plugins/assignsubmission_mediagallery).
