A checklist can be created by a teacher (or generated from the activities in a course) and then the students or teachers can check-off each item as they are completed.

This is a Moodle activity module for Moodle 1.9 and Moodle 2.0+ that allows a teacher to create a checklist / todo list / task list for their students to work through. The teacher can monitor all the students' progress, as they tick off each of the items in the list. Items can be indented and marked as optional. Students are presented with a simple bar showing how far they have progressed through the required/optional items and can add their own, private, items to the list. 
Features include:

  • Choose whether students or teachers can check-off items
  • Students can add their own notes to their checklist
  • Dates can be added to items (and exported to the calendar)
  • Teachers can comment on an individual student's items
  • Progress is exported to the gradebook
  • Choice of colours for each checklist item
  • Heading items (without checkboxes)
  • (Optional) Import list of current course activities and automatically check-off as activities completed

    Hi there - this is a really great module - one issue though - for the section/module checklists - the name of the topic is not being displayed properly. For instance, if I re-name Topic 2, that new name is not picked up on - the check list for that section only displays 'Topic 2' as the heading.

    Kerry - sorry it has taken me a few days to respond. I note you have also reported this to tracker - CONTRIB-3526. I'll take a look at this when I'm next updating the checklist plugin (which may not be for a week or two).

    Hi this sounds perfect for our needs ... but it has a problem. I've installed the 1.9 version as we have Totara which I suspect has something to do with the problem.
    Having added a checklist activity with a few items to check, viewing the activity has the "save" button hidden (apparently by javascript, not in html). If I use firebug to expose the button and submit the form, data seems to be saved (checkboxes are checked) but progress bar is not updated; I suppose this is also a javascript issue.
    Is this likely to be fixable or must we wait until totara moves on to moodle 2 in a couple of months?

    @Alan - what type of checklist have you set up. If it is a student & teacher checklist, then the progress bars only update when the teacher confirms that the student has completed the items.

    If it is a student-only checklist, then that is a bug - please report it to tracker.moodle.org (although, fixing bugs in the 1.9 version isn't a high priority for me any more).

    Please wait a moment, then navigate away from the page and back again, to see if the checks were actually saved.
