The social flow exploits the traces of student activities in the platform to aggregate them in an anonymised way and offer a view of the list of resources and activities that most engage the attention of students. This tool has been developed to support students' learning and help them set goals for themselves on a daily basis.

The Social Flow view may be customized by each student with several preferences:

  • reference period : depending on its relationship to deadlines, student may configure reference period to 1 day to 2 weeks;

  • courses selection : student may decide the Social Flow to present actions occuring in a selection of its courses depenting on its expectations for each course;

  • action type : enable the student to display 'consultation' actions (like playing a video), 'contribution' actions (like submitting a quiz attempt) or both;

  • number of lines : defines the number of lines to display in the social flow view.

Activities with closing date are associated to contextual informations about the closing date.
Some resources or activities appear grayed out in the list because they are configured with a restriction. Therefore, these items should not be taken into account.

Teachers also have access to the social flow block with agglomerated student data.

The data recorded to display the social flow block is cleaned every night to keep only the data that is strictly necessary.

The Social Flow view is based on two plugins:

  • logstore_socialflow: Logs the events to the database and makes all data treatements with a performant approach; you need to install this dependency first
  • block_socialflow: Block to display the Social Flow data on the dashboard.
