The content translation plugin set is a set of plugins that enable in-line translation of content in a Moodle site or course. The plugin set allows users with appropriate permissions to provide translations for content which is not translated by language packs.

Permissions to use the plugin are set by a site administrator. Once permissions have been given to a user, they will have the ability to use the plugin set and translate content throughout all areas of the site that they have access to.

If you like our work we maintain various non-public plugins available on a commercial basis, you can see the details here:

Hi Andrew. Thanks for publishing this. Is the Atto plugin available on the Plugins directory now too? Once it is could we link to it from the description of this filter plugin, since they rely on each other to work correctly?

Hi, Thank you for this useful plugin, I tried it quickly and I notice that the translated terminologies are not found when I use global search.
for example, I translated a course name to be displayed as "برمجة" in Arabic while the original is "Programming".
When I search using "Programming", I find the course, but when I search using "برمجة" I don't find the course

I'd love to make it work with global search but sadly it's not technically feasible from what I can see. If someone wishes to pick it up it MAY be possible to register the translations in the index and then provide links to the page URLs but not 100% convinced...

Eamon - Thanks for using the plugin. The version here had fallen behind the version in GitHub so I have pushed a new release that has a large number of fixes and improvements, it also has more detailed installation instructions in the README.

Adding a 'Translator' role, with filter/translations:edittranslations set to Allow (as described in the documentation) does not work. 'Translators' can see the icon and click 'Start in-line translation' but the page just reloads and the green/black icons cannot be seen.
Only when a user is added to 'Site Administators' does the plugin work properly.

Also, the plugin does not work with the Lambda theme plugin (even for Administrators). The icon appears but clicking on it doesn't do anything. So you need to change back to the standard theme when doing translations (and give your translators Site Administrator role).

It would be good if you could investigate these issues and update the plugin.
    Thanks.

Thanks for providing this plugin set.
I tried to translate questions from a question bank, but the icon for translations is only available for the question category, not for the question text itself.
How can I use the translation function for questions?
And if I use moodle-xml to import questions, will it work to set the same quetions-id for de and en? How exactly is the syntax?

    Best

    A short addendum:
I just saw, that there is the possibility for translation, if the questions re used in a test - you can start the translation doing the test. But as I have a question bank of 300 questions and wand a test at random - is there a possibility to translate the questions in the question bank?

Hi Andrew! Thanks so much for providing this plug-in! It helps a lot to bring a lot of people together on our platform, part of http://mutuallearningprogram.org/.

I have an issue: we use the forum feature in our Moodle course and the translations of the submissions work great. The issue is that it also translates the name of the participants, so some names are shown wrong. I would propose a change to "disable" the translation of participant-names.

Feel free to reach out on my email to discuss the issue, I can show you around: arnold@colt-cambodia.org.

    Regards and thanks again!
    Arnold
