Hi Julia - I had to remove it because the upload to this database was screwing up my code and I haven't had time to fix it. You can download a working copy from the source control URL in the mean time.

Hi Jenny - in Moodle 2.2+ (Build: 20111209) it is requiring that the questionaire module is present (otherwise block not only cannot be added but course can't be again opened). Installing questionnaire fixes it but thought I should let you know smile

Hi Jenny. Thanks SO much for the latest update, which appears to be working well within Courses on Moodle 2.2. Wish I had the development skills to take this over, but I don't sad Are the OU using a different Block that will do roughly the same job? I was going to add this to the front page so I could make it what we used to call a 'sticky block', but the Block doesn't appear in the dropdown in the 'Add a block' on the front page sad Is this by design? I know that Blocks can be coded so they don't allow this, but I think this would be a great feature for the Course ratings Block - e.g. in the context of http://www.freemoodle.org

Hi Stuart, Glad its working well now. Yes, the block is set to only work on "course" pages, which used to be good enough with "sticky blocks". If you put it on the site page, what would you be rating ... the site as a whole? Or maybe it should list the top-rated courses on the site? Feel free to log a tracker issue for me, and I'll give it some thought.

Thanks Jenny. The reason I was trying to place the Block on the Front Page is that this is the only way in Moodle 2.x to replicate the Sticky Blocks feature from Moodle 1.9 I think. I wasn't intended to rate the site, but to force the Block to appear in every Course, so learners can rate the Course, and Teachers can't remove the Block. Is it a relatively easy change to alter the behaviour of the Block from Course only to Site? If so I can trying changing our local copy smile

New version released today which you can add to the site home page with a warning message in edit mode.

    Hi Jenny,

    It is a nice block.
For non-english users it is almost as nice, but in spite of a full local translation (language customization), the block displays a "no ratings given" (graphic?) message in english when (obviously) no ratings have been given, and this particular sentence is not available for translation within the strings language pack.

Would you be so kind as to check this and make the necessary improvement ?

    Thanks in advance,
German Valero (mex spanish language pack maintainer)

Hi German, yes that's come up before. I must remember to change it next time I'm in there. The best workaround is for people to change the graphic in their theme.

    Hi Jenny,
The AMOS translator (https://moodle.org/) has Hebrew and Mexican Spanish languages translated strings for this add-on, but there are no German language strings there (as mentioned in http://docs.moodle.org/25/en/Course_rate_block#Languages ). The german language strings are in the 'lang/de' folder within the plugin downloadable ZIP files.

I took the german language strings from the 'de' folder from the downloaded file and submitted them to the german pack maintainer at AMOS.

That (old way) of placing language strings seems to be now obsolete. Please see http://lang.moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=2485

    Thanks in advance

Does this work with Moodle 2.5? I installed but it is giving me an Internal Server Error when I click to rate the course.
