I think I may have found a bug - If the Progress Bar exists in the class, it takes on the default dates of the activities and resources. When I modify the dates of each activity and resource (not within the Progress bar settings), the dates in the Progress Bar sticks to the original dates.

The current workaround: modify the dates first, then add the Progress Bar block.

    Hi, Madeline.

You should try the "lock to due date" setting, which causes the block to follow activity due dates instead of manual dates. This should be on by default for activities with due dates. It doesn't work with completion "expected by" dates, though.

Is there a limit on the number of resources the block will show - I have a course with numerous resources in and when I try to configure the block it just gives a server 500 error or a no data error - if I lower the number of resources it then allows configuration. If I zip up some of the files it seems to alleviate the issue. I obviously don't want to monitor all the resources but the list for choosing what's available for monitoring is obviously too long. My server php .ini is set for quite heavy memory and upload limits.

    Hi, Mark.

There's not a limit, but with large courses, the block instance config form can be slow, can stall or fail. The main reason I've identified is the little calendar widget on each date and there is a tracker issue for that. Decencies between form items also slow things down.

This was one of the reasons why I've been working on a new version of the plugin that relies on completion. I've submitted that to the Plugins directory and hopefully it will be approved soon.

I managed to put a lot of files with no activity completion into moodle folders thereby reducing the config form contents - produced a sort of workaround might help in meantime . Thanks Michael.

    Hi Michael,

I cannot determine what is causing some students to show red and others blue on the same assignment, though I think the bug has to do with the "Action: Passed" setting, as when I set it to Action: Submitted, the colors worked correctly. Here's some info on the assignment:

    Progress Bar settings:
    -Monitored: Yes
    -Locked to Deadline: Yes
    -Action: Passed
    -Show submitted before action: Yes

    Assignment settings:
    -Deadline: June 30, 2017
    -Attempts reopened: Automatically until pass
    -Maximum attempts: Unlimited

Some students that have no submission at all show red and blue. Some that have reopened assignments also show red and blue. I can't find any patterns.

Thank you very much for this Michael. I know you must be busy but I wonder is there a simple way to add a minimum word count to the completion tracking options in forum posts / replies? Would absolutely love this option if possible.

    Hi, Jonathan.

I haven't had a chance to look at the code in relation to what you reported. It could be related to assignment attempts or overrides in the Gradebook.

    Hi, Eric.

To add an activity completion option, you
would have to change the Forum module. I'm not sure if that is what you meant.

It could be done by adding an action query to the Progress Bar, but that would be hard to configure.

Thanks Michael. I did not notice the "lock to due date" setting before. That works.

An add-on to the above comment. The progress bar dates lock to deadline accurately for assignments. However, the "lock to deadline" does not seem to work for forums. It looks like when the "lock to deadline" function is selected in forums, the dates are automatically pre-set to a system-chosen date, and not grayed out like when the function is turned on in Assignments. The only way that I can get the dates to update for the forums, is to set up the dates for each forum within the Progress Bar edit screen.

    Hi, Madeleine.

With the "lock to deadline" option, the dates set in the Progress Bar block instance configuration page and rely on the date set with the activity instead. You should be able to test this after you save the configuration with "lock to deadline" on and view the Progress Bar block in the course. If you had set a date previously and the chosen "lock to deadline" that date is remembered and appears greyed out, as you described, but it would not be the date used unless you turn off "locked to deadline" again. At least, that's the way it should be working. Let me know if it is not.

    Hi Michael
I'm trying to use this plugin but I'm having some problems. Do I need to configure the progress bar each time I add a new task? I want to include de progress bar as a standard in all the courses.

    Hi, Bruno.

Yes, you do need to adjust the configuration after adding new activities if you want them to appear in the Progress Bar block. You can add the block globally, but each instance needs to be configured.

Sounds great! exactly what I was looking for. Is it possible to transform all the datas into a .csv or similar? (like studentA, 1,1,1,0,0 60% or sth. like that).

    Hello Michael,
    Wonderful plugin!
I was wondering whether it would be possible to add "alt" text (modifiable through Language packs) to "tick" and "cross" icons for better accessibility in future versions?
    Thank you!
