This block can easily be added to a Moodle installation and provides ePortfolio functionality for each student and teacher course independently.
Students can build up their ePortfolios collecting weblinks, files and notes within individually defined categories.  ePortfolio-artefacts can be published to specific target-groups using views to start reflection and assessments.

ePortfolios can be saved as a SCORM-package and can be used cross-platform for further work. Also the CV-functionality allows export to the Europass format.

Exabis ePortfolio is part of a suite of three main modules: Exabis ePortfolio (portfolio work), Exabis Competencies - Competence grids (connecting artefacts to competences and individualization paths using digital competence grids) and Exabis student review (course spanning reporting tool of students’ achievements including assessment of soft skills).

The module can be used standalone or as part of this suite. Advantage of using all three modules together is that learner driven learning paths can be established – these are teacher guided, self-paced, competence-based and individualized.

The free app DAKORA (working with digital competence grids) which was developed together with the Federal Ministry of Education in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, allows work with all three modules with an innovative interface for tablets and smartphones which can be downloaded from all app stores.

I am reporting the same error as kanji and Ana, and I think I may have a temporary solution.

The error is being thrown due to php 5.4: "As of PHP 5.4 string offsets have to either be integers or integer-like strings, otherwise a warning will be thrown. Previously an offset like "foo" was silently cast to 0."

Change line 92 from this

echo $OUTPUT->box(get_string("descriptionsaved", "block_exaport"), 'center', '40%', '#ccffbb'); to this echo$OUTPUT->box(get_string("descriptionsaved", "block_exaport"), 'center');

And the error is no longer thrown.

I think it has something to do with the box() function in lib/outputrenderers.php

We have this installed on Moodle 2.5.4 and are experiencing an error message when viewing a 'View':

Notice: Undefined variable: has_competences in /var/www/moodle/blocks/exaport/shared_view.php on line 181 Call Stack: 0.0000 646176 1. {main}() /var/www/moodle/blocks/exaport/shared_view.php:0

Initially we thought it's because we don't have the competencies block installed and therefore had the setting for the competencies set up incorrect, but ticking or unticking this option in the block settings page has no impact.

Any ideas?

Hello Chris, problem should be solved - can you give it another try? Andreas

Are there any plans to update this plugin to be compatible with Moodle versions higher than 2.5? I've got 2.7 up in a test environment and was able to install the plugin, but some pages needed some SQL query tweaking to work, and the Items content block does not insert properly when creating a view (the lightbox containing the options never appears but the screen darkens and becomes inaccessible like it has). Otherwise, this looks to be a great e-portfolio option!

we have checked into the matter - it is related to logging in Moodle which is being reworked totally at the moment. we will rework our module soon to update this - for now it is possible to use the module - the problem only exists with the admin account, regards andreas

Hi Andreas,
I have the same problem like Georgi Samaras - there is no access for creating a view even if i log in as a student without any admin rights. As a result of any action a lightbox overlays the site.
Our Moodle is 2.6.3
Kind regards, Helga

Estimado tengo el siguiente error al querer compartir el portafolio:

Could not load preference popup_provider_block_exaport_sharing_permitted. Make sure the component and name you supplied to message_send() are valid.

we updated our moodle to 2.7 and the exabis e-portfolio to the latest version. the problem with the lightbox overlaying the site, while creating a view still exists. I turned the developer-mode on, but no error message comes up. do you have any idea? how can i sent you a screenshot?
kind regards
helga

hello helga, please send a screenshot - did you take this version of exabis eportolio?: https://github.com/gtn/exaport/archive/experimental.zip - regards Andreas

The 2.7 version looks great! However, I am experiencing the lightbox issue with the "Items" portion of view creation on both the official release and the experimental version on github. I have a screenshot but am not sure how to send it. Basically, when adding "Items" to a view, the lightbox overlay darkens the screen and then nothing else happens. For me, this only happens with "Items". I can add Personal Items, Headertext, etc. with no problems.

We are experimenting with the possibility of using exabis e-portfolio in a large installation of course in Indonesia for School Principal's Professional development. We will have courses with potentially large numbers of students (several thousand). We will organize learners into groups for interactive elements such as Forums etc. We cant see how a portfolio or file in a portfolio can be shared to a group. We can see external and internal sharing options, and in the internal option individual users in a course can be selected (or all by select all) but we can't see how we can restrict this to a students' group , or link a portfolio to a group. Additionally it would be good if we had a quick or automated way to allocate specific users such as the students tutor and supervisor.

Hello Greg, we will look into the group connection, regarding the quick automated allocation - we have already done that in the experimental track on git - views can be automatically published to teachers of a course, regards Andreas

I'm using exabis v2.7-r1 (2014121900) (the version.php omits the main version 4.2) with Moodle v. 2.7, and it seems to be working fine mostly. But the SCORM-Export option shows a blank page and I get parsing errors in the logfile:
apache2: PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')' in /srv/moodle/blocks/exaport/export_scorm.php on line 167

It looks like the third operand for the ternary operator is missing in this line.

Regards,
David
