A block used to collect a student's grade for a course (based on UK inspectorate OFSTED's scheme) and optionally a comment also.

This block was created to meed a small need, namely finding out what the students thought about the Moodle courses they used daily. It is part of a larger project to increase course value and use across our organisation. Full description in the README and the code repository.
This block can stand alone, but the 'Course Awards - Medal' block was created to award courses different 'medals' based in part on what the voters thought. Please also see the 'Course Awards Report' which is used to report site-wide on all votes and awarded medals.

However, is the Vote Block designed to only install within a Course?
I'd like to add it to the Front Page, so it can be set to show in every Course (like the old sticky blocks function), but it doesn't show in the list of Blocks that can be added on the front page
That behaviour can easily be modified!
The block's ability to be placed in certain areas is controlled on line 44 of block_courseaward_vote.php. Change:
return array('course-view' => true);
...to:
return array('all' => true);
... to be able to add the block anywhere at all. (More info here: http://docs.moodle.org/dev/Blocks#Authorized_Personnel_Only ) Note that I've only tested it within courses, so test for correct behaviour before using in a production environment.
