Export Book Chapters to PDF

The Export Book Chapters Block is a Moodle block plugin that provides a convenient way for users to download book chapters in PDF format directly from their course.

Key Features:

  • Keyword-Based Filtering (Book Prefix): Users can configure the block to filter by a specific keyword (prefix) within the book title. Only books that contain this prefix will be included in the export list, making it easier to focus on specific books.
  • Full Book Download Option: If the keyword (prefix) is left empty, the block allows users to download all chapters of all books in the course, providing full flexibility.
  • Security Enhancements: The block respects Moodle's course restrictions and visibility settings, ensuring that only accessible and visible content can be exported. Students won't be able to download books that are restricted or hidden.
  • Zip File Export: The exported chapters are packaged into a ZIP file named exported_chapters.zip, ensuring an organized and easy-to-handle download.
  • Pagination Support: The plugin ensures that the downloaded PDFs maintain the original pagination of the book chapters, providing a seamless reading experience.

This block is especially useful for courses with extensive book content, allowing students to easily access and download the material for offline reading and study. It integrates seamlessly into any Moodle course, providing a user-friendly interface for both teachers and students.

Book Prefix Explained:

The Book Prefix feature helps course admins or teachers filter the export by selecting books that start with the specified prefix. For example, if you set the prefix to "Unit 1", only books with titles that begin with "Unit 1" will appear in the export list. If no prefix is provided, all available books will be listed for download.

This ensures that only the relevant books matching the prefix will be listed, simplifying the selection process.
