Assignment submissions ::: assignsubmission_wordcount
Maintained by Dave Balch
A simple plugin that adds a "Word count" submission type to assign activities.

This plugin adds a text input on the Edit submission page, into which students must manually enter the word count for their submission. The input is required, and only accepts numbers (up to a generous/ambitious eight digits in length).

This wordcount is shown on the assignment page submission status, and grading pages.

Warning: Using this plugin breaks the assign submission requirements routine. E.g. with both this wordcount, and the file submission plugin enabled, a student could create a submission with a wordcount, but no file upladed. Please see https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-47880 for more details.

    Thanks for sharing this plugin with the Moodle community. Some formal issues were detected and reported by our automated plugin checker tool. Please review all the plugin checker results and fix the issues mentioned, if possible. These changes are typically pretty easy to make but if you have any questions just let us know. For now, I am going to mark this plugin as needing more work. Once you get these formal issues resolved, please use the link “Schedule this plugin for re-approval” so that the plugin code can be fully reviewed and approved by my human colleagues.

    Hi Dave. Thanks for sharing this plugin with the community. I must admit I had quite different expectations about it. You might want to highlight in the plugin description that this plugin only allows student to claim the number of submitted words with no real checking or comparison with the actual state.

    You are cleared to land now, welcome to the Plugins directory!
