You might be pleased to know that Sam Hemelryk has been working on MDL-33017.

There is supposed to be a general policy in Moodle that when you un-enrol a student from a course, all the associated data is deleted. (Therefore, there are two options in the enrolment UI, you can un-enrol someone, or you can disable their enrolment, which stops them getting into the course any more, but which does not delete the data.)

Anyway, that seemed very dangerous to me, so I refused to implement that policy in the quiz.

Basically, it is a bloody mess, and I don't see it getting fixed any time soon, but that explains why the grades get deleted but the quiz results don't.

In Moodle, the question bank is independent of particular quizzes. (Well, more or less.) You can export a category of questions from the question bank. If you then re-import that, you have effectively duplicated the category. Anyway, look at the various options under 'Question bank' in the settings block.

You can only do this by editing the code. In this case, the code in mod/quiz/summary.php. Actually, that calls a method in mod/quiz/renderer.php to do the actual output.
