HI Stacy. But that is when you are using the British/Australian English language pack (en) rather than the US English language pack (en_us) Is there a reason why you prefer the English (en) one over the US English one?

Where does it say "show marks" in the US English version? As far as I am aware, if you use US English in your Moodle site then it should say points, not marks.
@Rick - if you dont want to show the activity dates then in the course settings, in the section Appearance, you can set Show activity dates to No
Yes, do please Rick. My understanding (I haven't tested it ) was that if there is no place for the Mark as done button to appear when a URL is opened, then the Mark as done button will always appear on the course page.
