If you have multimedia filters on in your site admin then you shouldn't need any code. Just type in some blank spaces in the html editor , select those spaces and then click on the link icon. Type in the url of your mp3 file. YOu can upload a file into your Moodle courses from there also. Save and you should get a player automatically then.

if it's just a plain powerpoint, open it in Open Office impress and convert to swf. Or if it has animations/video etc then download the free ispring solutions - does the same but saves all the fancy bits.
Dennis - what webrowser are you using? If it happens to be IE8 try a different browser or use IE8 in compatability mode. If it isn't IE8 then post back.
If scrolling marquees are really your thing, then yes, it is. Make sure in front page settings (in site administration) you have got the box "include a topic section" ticked. Then turn on your editing and select "add a resource>insert a label" - click on the second icon from the far right on the bottom toolbar. That enables you to put code straight into the label. As for the code for scrolling marquee, if you do a google search you will find lots of examples you can copy. Then save. (If the code then messes up your front page then use this solution here )
