If I understand correctly what you are trying to do, you might want to consider simply using the social format for each of your courses:

Social format

This format is oriented around one main forum, the Social forum, which appears listed on the main page. It is useful for situations that are more freeform. They may not even be courses. For example, it could be used as a departmental notice board.- http://docs.moodle.org/en/Course_settings#Format

Why not take a look and see if that is what you are looking for?

Hello, Eric,

When you set up a quiz, you do have the choice of password-protecting the quiz or not. In addition to requiring a password, you may require a network address, by the way.

Hello, Murtala,

You can open any of the files that end with the extension "php," "html" or "css" in a text editor like Notepad. You can then make the changes you want and upload them to your site. Is that what you mean?

What features are you thinking of removing? There may be an easier way.
