If you look in config.php, you will see a variable that will make everyone Jane Doe or Joe Blow to visitors to the site, but not to teachers or admins. At least it was there in 16x.

Yes, Aiken HS is heavily into First Robotics and we do use Moodle to get students, parents and teachers together for this.

Maybe you could create a role of "former student" with virtually no access? Seems cruel, but it might work
