The images go into a subdirectory in your moodledata folder. You can drill down to the right course number and find them there. (Screen capture below.)
If you want to create a media folder as you describe, maybe the Site files on the front page would be a good place to do that.

FYI: The packages that i created with HotPot worked perfectly in Moodle 1.6

Hi, Mark,
After you log into the tracker, look to the left. Once you click on the create new issue link, you are on your way. After you create the feature request, go on a little campaign to get people to vote for it. You already have my vote.
