Sorry, but have you actually read the online documention which you point to in your message? The REGEXP question type is indeed a new type of short answer, not "an extension of the cloze question".

@Hilary : that's what I thought. You are mixing up the Quiz activity and the Lesson activity. The "use regular expression" option you mention belongs to the Lesson activity Short answer question type.

Not to be confused with my REGEXP question type, a 3rd-party question type which is not part of the regular distribution of Moodle.

1. Which version of Moodle: 1.9.x or 2.0?
2. Will that glossary be used
   a) only for "browsing"
   b) or to generate autolinks in texts pointing to the entries?
3. I cannot visualize what you want to do and for what purpose. Could you please explain more at length and post a couple of concrete examples.
4. If 2.a, you might consider using the database activity instead of the Glossary activity.
