This still does not eliminate the second page from appearing....

The question no 1., for example, has 6 options and when the student checks one, a new page occurs which says..."your answer: 4" and then when he clicks continue, only then does the next page appear. My intention was to eliminate this second page.

when i installed moodle i was told php5.0 has issues with moodle but not 5.1

actually your problem is not very clear me.

Is your site accessible through internet?
If yes, send the url....let's see

moodle version
platform- windows or linux
hosted website or dedicated server
server- iis or apache
php etc version
language-

and other details as much as u may give....then see the response u get
