Did you (I hope you did) take a full backup of the database before doing the database upgrade? I've never successfully upgraded MySQL/MariaDB with the data in place. I'm sure it's possible but I've always dumped the data, installed the new version of the software and then re-uploaded the databases. However, Cloudways support should know better what is possible.
