Why do you want to migrate away from MariaDB. In general, migrating to a different database is going to be a load of hassle - probably for little or no benefit.

If you really want to spend money on your database, I can actually recommend Enterprise MySQL and it **should** be straightforward to migrate.

My first thought would be to ask why you are using memcached for sessions? Why not use Redis for both the cache and sessions? Seeing as it's simple to do that's the first thing I would do. See if it makes any difference.

I hope you have also checked your web server / PHP logs for any unusual activity. You might also want to consider running Moodle with debugging turned up to see if anything turns up.

We used to use this plugin - https://moodle.org/plugins/quiz_downloadsubmissions to bulk download attachments. However, it's no longer compatible with versions of Moodle 4.x and seems unmaintained. A chance you take.

However, this has turned into a significant "niggle" for many of our users.

What does everybody else do? Is there an alternative or an alternative way of working with core code? Before I do anything more drastic I wanted to check that I'd not missed anything.
