That means you have two problems. You've fixed the permission one and now something else is going wrong.

It's not ideal, but it might get you out of trouble.
sudo chmod -R 0777 /data/vhosts/moodle/moodledata
As long as it's not shared hosting (in any way), it's probably ok. However, the correct solution is to properly understand ownership and file permissions for your particular system.

Not ticked = no
Default yes means that it was ticked when Moodle was first installed. I'm sure how absurd this is has been discussed in the past.
