We have the same problem too and we are running Moodle 2.4.7. Any idea how to solve it? Is there a ticket in the Moodle bug tracker for this? I also tried to purge all the cache on our Moodle instance but it is still showing "Site news." Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

It would really be nice to have a feature to "duplicate" a course easily, instead of going through the course "backup/restore" or "import" process... just like how we could duplicate a resource in a course right now in Moodle 2.x... Is this even on the radar of the Moodle development team? It would be awesome to have such feature!

I'm glad that I found this old discussion thread as I'm still a little bit confused. So can we safely say "User files" are referring to "Student uploaded files" and it will NOT include any teacher uploaded files (as those should be considered as "Course files"), right?

I really need a better definition about this as teachers were asking me this when they do the course backup and restore... they don't know if they should check or uncheck this checkbox during the course backup process.

Another confusing thing is that during the course backup process (at least for 1.9, not sure about 2.x), it will ask you whether you want to backup Users (All, Course, or None), and "Backup role assignments for these roles." Let's say that if I pick "Course" for the Users pull-down menu, and select "None" for the "Backup role assignments for these roles," what would happen then? This is very confusing...

Thanks you!

Hi everyone...

I have Moodle package for Windows (come with XAMPP v1.7.4) installed on my C:\ drive (Windows 7) first, then later changed my mind and wanted to install it on my external hard drive F:\. However, it seems that the C:\amp installation somehow MySQL became a "service" and now if I run the xampp copy on my F: drive, it will NOT run MySQL on the F drive, and the C drive MySQL was not running either as I can not connect to the database by using localhost port 3306. Any idea how I can fix this problem? I want to have the xampp fully running on F drive only and have no references to the C:\ drive. Thanks for your help!

Moodle in English -> Enrolment -> Metacourse Question(s) -> Re: Metacourse Question(s)

Dear all, I have a related question.

So we have a way to automatically use Banner and Data Hub 2 (provided by Remote-Learner) to sync our Moodle with our student information systems (for account creation, enrollment, etc.). However, we are using meta courses to combine some courses that has multiple sessions, but due to FERPA requirement, we don't want students who are enrolled in different sections to be able to see the other section's forum discussion. The only solution that I can think of so far is to use "Separate Groups." However, this does create a problem that it would require faculty to "manually" enroll students into each group (section), and if there are a lot of students in the course, during the add and drop period it can be a pain for the instructors to manually add and remove students from each group. Is there a way to automate this? Any thoughts or comments? Thanks!
