PDF will not open _ The Plug In Performed an illegal Operation error

All of a sudden I cannot open PDF's from my classes in Firefox..

I receive the following error: The plug-in has performed an illegal operation.. restart Firefox...

I do not have this problem in IE, except that it now prompts me download the PDF instead of opening it in my browser.

I have searched the Adobe site and can find nothing.. thought I would post it here to see if anyone had some ideas.

Many thanks,

Karen,
Kind of a cryptic message. mixed I would start by making sure your Adobe Reader is running the latest version. Launch your Adobe Reader and click the help menu and select "Check for updates now". Most of my issues with PDFs are cured this way.

Yep.. thought of that first... and I am running the most current version.. 8.1.2

It has become a real process of elimination... it really started after the last Vista update.. but I can't blame it on Microsoft can I? wink

Thanks so much .. and will keep hunting..

Karen,
Is it possible that you have more than one version the Adobe Reader installed? I remember this causing some issues for me in the past.

Also: Here's a Firefox extension that might help you with PDFs -
