Which version of moodle is best for instalation

A few months ago I installed Moodle. But I had problem with installation Moodle 1,9 or 1,8. I instaled only Moodle 1,6 successfully. I use Canadian server. I come from Slovenia.  Now i must install Moodle on Slovene server again . Could you tell me which Moodle distribution is best for instalation and use. Why didn't I instal Moodle 1,9 or 1,8 successfuly. Program tell me mistake but i install successfully Moodle 1,6. So I instal correct it.

I'm going to recommend the latest version of 1.9 using the cvs server. Your installation issues may have been with your enviroment. I would recommend reading over the enviroment chec page during the install and see what passes and what doesn't. The location of the server doesn't really matter except for latency and speed of loading.

The system requirements for moodle are given on this docs page (not easy to find)
http://docs.moodle.org/en/Environment
And may also be displayed on your 1.6 moodles' "Evironment" admin page. Other than Unicode the requirements seem to be the same for 1.6 and above.

Since you are probably on a shared server (in Canada) it could be that the later versions used a bit too much memory or CPU.

What can you do when installation of moodle goes some time fine than you give information like as Fatal error: Call undefined function: has_capabilitiy() in /home/solasaop...php on line 15

What can you do
  1. Start a new discussion
  2. Give more information: your Moodle version, what you were doing when the problem occurred, the complete error message (what you omitted "..." is probably important).

I have solved this problem. I installed moodle 1,9. Before I had Moodle 1,6. I repaired: /home/solasaop/moodledate. So i had /home/solasaop/ucilnica-minimax. Moodle 1,9 installed to end and works.
