Changing roles between meta course and child course?

Changing roles between meta course and child course?

Hello. Our organization has a single installation of Moodle that is used by several of our training centers. Each training center has its own courses, teachers (total = 200+), and students (total = 2,000+). Recently, we've created some new, "centralized" courses with SCORM activities that will be used by everyone. We want to designate the new courses as meta courses, and assign the existing "decentralized" courses as child courses. Obviously, this will make enrollment, tracking, etc. in the new courses easier.

Here's the catch. We don't want the teachers in the child courses to have the role of "teacher" in the meta courses. We'd like for them to be "non-editing teachers" instead. This will allow teachers to view grades and activity reports in the meta courses for their own students, but they won't be able to add, delete, or otherwise modify course materials.

How can I assign a different role to someone in a meta course without changing the original role inherited from the child course?

Any help not requiring Administrator rights will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Brian,

Have you tried selecting teacher, and perhaps non-editing teacher too, in the nonmetacoursesyncroleids setting in Administration > Users > Permissions > User policies?

Sorry I don't understand your sentence "
Any help not requiring Administrator rights will be greatly appreciated." Please explain.
