You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain

I am ready to jump off a bridge I am so frustrated! I'm just an English teacher, not a computer tech, and Moodle is so frustrating for me...any help would be so appreciated.

Here's the story:  I had moodle 1.8

I tried to load the "Book Module"

There was an error that said my version of Moodle wasn't new enough.

I went to Fantasico on my Cpanel

I went to Moodle

I clicked to upgrade to 1.8.4

It stopped in the middle and wouldn't proceed.

I went back to FAntastico, and it said I have 1.8.4 installed (but it never fully installed)

I clicked on REMOVE

It said I had to "manually remove" and I think I found all the files that it wanted removed. One in my regular public_html and the others in the phpmyadmin (database and user).

Then I went to Fantastico again. It said I had no moodle.

I filled out the form, asking it to put the moodle in my domain.

I clicked "install" and it gave me the message:

You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain

AFter the entire debacle of trying to load 1.8.4 and not being able to return to 1.8.3 because I couldn't find all the files, I called my host (luckily my brother!) and said "blast the entire www.grammargal.com site, and let's start from scratch.

He did, and when I try to load 1.8.4, I still get the "You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain" message.

IF you can help me, please be excrutiatingly detailed in your descriptions. This process has taken me two days of getting nowhere because I don't understand the lingo and where to find the files...

Thank you all in advance.

Linnea

Hi,

Try to remove all the files that are related to moodle in your php server. Then try again.
