Hello Everybody,

Is there a way to determine word counts for the Moodle interface? My team is currently managing a translation project for Moodle 1.8, and we need to provide the following in order to track the progress of the translations:

  • Total English word count
  • Total amount of words already translated in standard language pack, specifically Arabic, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello Karen,

in Moodle, we usually do not count words but strings (sentences or messages). In Moodle 1.9, the total number of strings and the number of missing translations is being displayed as a part of translation interface (admin/lang.php).
