We are currently working with Moodle version 1.8.2. (We will not be able to update until the end of the summer term.) The site was upgraded from 1.6.x.
A problem we have encountered and which has persisted over several weeks now is that our students get kicked out from their groups but still remain within the course. We have 88 students in one course space and we put them into four different visible groups. Each student is only participating in one group at a time, i.e. they are not members of several groups within the same course. The kick-out appears to happen randomly: it happened to some students several times and to others not all.

Yes, we are having the same problem with Moodle 1.6.5. I think since we are using LDAP for authentication and enrollment, every time a student status get in-active and then active again, the student is kicked out from the groups that he belongs to.
Any ideas that may help us?
