I've installed DimDim on Moodle 1.8.3.
It's a great solution even if audio quality is not so good

I've tested video and audio and all seems to be well integrated.
Even desktop and application sharing are well implemented.

I've the free version, I don't know if the commercial one has better quality.

Hi Marco,

The commercial one uses a more sophisticated streaming server. There is an "ad version" commercial version available, if you don't want to buy seats.

Dimdim is releasing a new Moodle integration in the next couple of weeks that allows the instructor to pre-determine what elements of the web conference will be turned on or off. They are also revealing some new cool 1-1 video conferences with annotation tools.

Good stuff.

DimDim web site confusing

by cdx cdx -
Hi Tom,

I see that you are listed as DimDim's only US Gold Partner so I expect you can fill in the gaps where their web site isn't clear. Can I host a session with 100-500 attendees sharing my desktop? If so what are the options i.e. they host it, I host it, and what are the costs?

Thx

Hi Tom,

very interesting development!

Where I can find this information. Can we participate to the developement of the new version of the dimdim plugin?

It'll be inresting to have a module to book the dimdim rooms.

I just finished installing DimDim for Moodle 1.9... and it's a great addition!!

I would just like to echo Marco's comments... the audio and video have great quality.. and some of the other addon's like desktop sharing and application sharing are also great!

I'm currently using the DimDim servers to host our meetings.. but we are looking into setting up our server to be the DimDim Meeting server and host everything locally.

Great job DimDim!

I use 1.8.2. I set to daily.
I got this message "Next scheduled session: Wednesday, 2 April 2008, 10:15 AM (GMT+8)". but I never see the link.
Any advise?

Re: Wimba desktop sharing and pricing

Wimba's web site also seems to be a bit short on details as I can't seem to find pricing anywhere. Can Wimba host a session with 100-500 attendees sharing my desktop? If so what are the options i.e. they host it, I host it, and what are the costs?

Thx

Hi,

I wish to share the info on online interactive tools such as A/V chat with white board.  I know a service provider from NY used Moodle with Adobe Flash Media server 2 to offer one on one etutoring in maths for K9-K12.  FMS2 is versatile with lot of online interactive applications and they were successful in establishing SSO between moodle and their own FMS application.  They were able to offer etutoring with white board, webcam for the etutor and full duplex audio for voice chat/text chat

I understand that now they have developed their own LMS to have interoperability with FMS applications.

Their site is available at http://www.aspiringkidz.com and one Mr.Shain Jacob shain@shain.com will be happy to give an online demo

Their only problem is to offer Moodle in Win2k3 with IIS6 and MsSql 2005.  It is a longstanding issue.

Need a sustainable solution to run moodle in Win2k3 server with PHP, MsSQL and IIS6

Hello Jagdeep,

I have really enjoyed using authorGen's authorPoint. Now I am trying
WiziQ with Moodle. I have successfully downloaded it and installed it,
but when I go to select it as an Activity, I soon get an error message as follows:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home2/www/macroamerica/moodle/mod/wiziq/auto.php on line 17

Any suggestions or help?

Thank You.
