Automatically updating URL

Automatically updating URL

I am trying to build a link to our email system. Moodle is on one area of our site (https://www.xxx.com/moodle) and our email is on another (https://www.xxx.com/exchange).

However, when I either enter the URL via the html editor or using the tool Moodle automatically changes the email address to include the Moodle folder (https://www.xxx.com/moodle/exchange), which is WRONG!

Why is it doing this and how do I stop it?

Have you tried entering the link code manually in the HTML view (clicking the <> icon) using the absolute path?

Yes, several times. I have even copied the HTML to Notepad and Notepad2, edited it directly, deleted the Moodle code and saved it, re-entered the editor and pasted from notepad but it changes it every time.

It seems a relative address works but if I use an absolute address then Moodle insists on altering the URL to include the /moodle as if it is trying to predict that I must have meant the root of the site for Moodle rather than the my actual intention which is from the true root of the site, of which Moodle is a sub-directory.

This may be a problem for people whose Moodle installation is not in the root location (public_html for example) but is off from here. Then any link to a resource on the site but outside Moodle would need to use relative addressing.
