Hotpot JQuiz exercises htm format instructions shrunk after the 1st check

Hi everyone,

I am also reporting the captioned problem when I'm using JQuiz to prepare an exercise, here belows are the details:

  • Moodle version 1.64
  • Windows 2000 professional or XP professional
  • IE version 6.0.2.9
  • Hot Potato 6.2.0.8
  • JQuiz > option> config output> type something in the instructions> save
  • save JQuiz and output as htm
  • view under normal browser : shrunk (Big problem, but is the new version ok?)
  • Under Moodle 1.6> start hotpot module
  • Upload the htm file
    • Configure used with Moodle naviagtion bar > save
    • start exercises (attached)
    • first attempt on first question > then click check > if corrected
    • see response window > then the instruction statement disappear
    • seems being shrunk
  • Reconfigure again, this time:
    • Moodle navigation frame > still shrunk
    • Embedded iframe > still shrunk
    • Hotpot quiz buttons > still shrunk
    • Giveup button > still shrunk
    • none > still shrunk
  • Use FireFox 2.0.0.4 instead of IE
    • Results: ALL the same

That means, if we put a word list on the instructions for the students to choose, e.g. a word list of verb in basic form and ask the students to select and change the form into the correct verb form, they can only see the list on the 1st question, and they can't see them on the second question. Temporarily, the solution is to ask them to click check button ONCE only. But I don't think it's the best solution.

After installation of the latest version of Hotpotato, the version 6.2.0.9, the display is the same, i.e. the instructions automatically shrink and students can't see it after clicking "check" button on the first question.

Hi there,

This is the way Hot Potatoes exercises are supposed to work. The instructions don't actually "shrink"; they're replaced by the feedback you've provided for the student, when they choose or check an answer. I'm assuming you are providing feedback for the student -- there wouldn't be much point in using Hot Potatoes if you're not smile

If you want the instructions to be persistent, you could put them in the Exercise Subtitle field.
