Front Page News Items

Front Page News Items

I have set the front page in Moodle 1.8 to display 10 news items.  As I understand, the news items are really just a special case of the forum module.

Currently, the entire text of the news item displays on the front page.  However, I would like for only the first few lines to display with a "more" link to expand the text.  I have in mind something similar to the Latest News block which shows headlines and then expands to display the entire text.

Any ideas?

This has been a problem for a very long time. Let me guess...when you log in as the site admin, you do see the first few lines of text (according to what you have set-up in the admin section) with a link to read the entire post. But, when you are not logged in, you see the complete post?

Exactly, Steve.  Any advice or do I have to live with this?

That's too bad. I am looking for a fix for exactly the same problem.

Hi
a few months on, any sign of a fix yet as we too would love this.
Thanks
