Thanks to the kindness of strangers, I solved my first problem. But what about this one?

Warning: print_recent_activity(): Failed opening '/usr/www/users/bray/write4television/moodle/mod/dialogue/lib.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /usr/www/users/bray/write4television/moodle/course/lib.php on line 608

Does your /usr/www/users/bray/write4television/moodle/mod/dialogue/ dir exist?

If it doesn't exist and you aren't going to use the dialogue module (although I suspect that you've used it before...), go to Administration/Administer Modules and delete it.
